Mazefate
Mazefate began in Omaha, NE in 1994 as an original band. Members included drummer Teresa Birk, guitarist Lyle (BUZZ) Johnston, bassist Steve Majorek, and lead vocalist/keyboardist Wendy Palmer. Combining the influence of guitar oriented bands, harmony laden vocals, and lyrics that reach into the darker corners of the mind, Mazefate developed it's own unique style of dark-edged melodic medal. The band came out strong playing original venues in Omaha, Lincoln and Minneapolis in support of their 1997 release Ten Dirges For Any Occassion. The shows included a supporting act for national headliner Warrant at Lincoln's Royal Grove. Mazefate was off to a promising start that was cut short, in January of 1999, by the tragic death of bassist and friend Steve Majorek. Due to the devasting loss, the remaining members were forced to re-evaluate their presence in the music community and nearly vanished from the scene for quite some time. In late 2000, Mazefate joined with Mike Rhode playing occassional cover and original gigs while writing and recording their 2nd CD "The Chaos Within". Mike left the band in 2003 and remains a good friend. Shortly thereafter, the band was introduced to current and permanent bassist Brent Kistenmacher. His positive energy was warmly welcomed and provided the final piece to the puzzle. Now with the magical combination of seasoned musicians, featuring both male and female lead vocals, Mazefate lends a touch of variety to a full night's worth of current and classic hard rockin' favorites. The band is once again ready to pack in the crowds and rock the house with an unprecedented level of energy and expertise.
